March 10, 200422 yr My 93 legacy dies about 5 minutes after starting some days. On other days it goes for an hour. Dies at an idle or driving 65 mph. If I turn the key off and then back on it starts up and goes just fine. Its a 5-speed and the clutch keeps the motor running when I turn the key off and on. I replaced the ignition eciter with no change. Is the coil the culprit?
March 10, 200422 yr What does it do when it dies.....does it just lose power? Does it sputter? Have you checked the ECU codes. Instructions are on my site under notes & tips, engine related. I had a similar problem. It turned out to be the MAF sensor.
March 10, 200422 yr Author It dies just as if you turned the key off. All the electrical parts stay on(heater, lights, radio). It does not sputter. Does it at 65 mph or at an idle at a stop sign.
March 31, 200422 yr Author I checked the codes like you said. The MAF sensor was one of them. Bought one on E-bay for 25 dollors. Works perfect now. Thanks sooooo much for your help. Tried to clear the flashing check engine light, have not been able to do that yet even going through your directions. Will try the battery dance next.
March 31, 200422 yr have you checked the codes again to make sure there's no others in there? Also, did you remember to disconnect the connectors after you pulled the codes?
