What's the difference between a shortblock and a long block?

google would have sufficed but here goes from a yahoo answers question:

 

a short block is a motor without heads (includes crank, cam, pistons and all bearings) a long block is a motor with the heads installed,(these motors come complete less the oil pan and intake and accessories)
