billy gunn
I am looking to do some King springs and KYBs in the future, but need tires now. I did a little searching, but 17s are too common on here in the off-road area... (I do know why... but its the rims I have already) I am trying to decide on 215/60R17s or 225/60R17s... I would like to go with the larger size, planning on going with Yoko ATs which are rated at 27.1" and 27.6" respectively. The rims are a 17x7.5" with 48mm offset. Just wondering if anyone has tried 27.6ish" tires on an Outback with no lift? Did it rub? Thanks
sifu
why 17s? Do you already have 17 rims, or are moving up?

billy gunn
I would also be willing to buy some cheap 15s, and throw some 215/75/15s on if those would fit. I just wanted to stay cheap I'm willing to do minor work to clearance the wheel wells if required, rolling, minor trimming, etc.
sifu
yeah. Well- I know there are conversions that give an overall dimension of the tire..Here is good place to start http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=102101 I'm not really sure if a 17 has been done here, and I don't know about the overall dimensions of the wheel. I do know that the 215/70 or 75/15 is a pretty common tire, and both will fit with some trimming and some rubbing. I'd imagine the 17s will create the same problems.
