Power window micro-project

Featured Replies

I had an interesting Idea for the windows in my xt6.

As some of you are likely aware, the xt6 driver's side power window has a function that allows it to either raise the window all the way, or lower the window all the way by "clicking" the power window switch to either extreme.

So I though, how could I do this for all window switches?

I got my hands on 2 sets of driver's sides switches.

I don't pretend to be of any use with electronics  but what do you guys think? is it as easy as taking everthing appart and just applying the different switch?

Also, Can anyone take a picture of a passenger's side unit? I would love to see what one looks like from behind.

You could use a DEI 530T power window control module.

this module allows up/down "one touch" operation from the drivers switch.

pretty easy to install. if you want this one touch to work on the passenger side you have to run a wire into the passenger door to the switch.

I'm going to try and use the parts I already have first. But that is definitetly a viable option once I fail :D

From looking at the switch assembly from the drivers side, It almost looks like I would just need to extract the driver's side window switch from another unit, and somehow rig it in to fit in the same way as the stock passenger's side switch.

I'll have to wait to see what the pins and connector look like on the passenger's side switch, but I'm guessing I'll have to do some repinning.

I got the "auto" switch and "well" separated form the rest of the unit. zzz (icon is oddly specific, seeing as I used a sawsall )

So now I just have the one switch, with the harness attached to it. I'm going to take apart the door tomorrow to get at the passenger's side unit.

Anyone have any tips before I start this? I haven't had the doors apart yet...

Do you want each passenger to be able to one-click? I'm guessing so based on the conversation.

When I first read the thread I thought you wanted your driver door control panel to have each button be one-click, which would be a lot more doable, I think, or at least require less work! Good luck either way, and let us know what happens when you finish.
