Hey all--please forgive/advise if I'm in the wrong forum section...this is my first post (outside of the intro post in the newb area).

 

Never having done any work on my wife's '06 XT Ltd., I figured I would try to tackle something easy--spark plugs. Then I looked under the hood and couldn't find anything approximating any wires/plug boots that I'd seen on my older GMCs, Toyotas, etc.

 

SO -- I hit the interwebs and I think I've at least found the plugs (under some square caps--are these coils or coil packs I think?), but they look like they're an inch and a half from the engine compartment wall. How in the wide world do I go about replacing these?

I use a 3/8" drive long handled ratchet with a deep 18mm socket on the 5/8" spark plug socket. I also use a 1 1/2" long extension to help get the spark plug socket on and off the plugs. This is after having the whole air box removed for the passenger side and with the battery removed on the driver side. I've actually found it easier to get everything out from the bottom on the driver side but I have the car up on a lift over my head.

Good deal...I'll give that a shot. Wish I had a lift, though. (Although I do have some huge jack stands for the Land Cruiser...)
