Removing Strut Tophat bolts?

I'm putting some spacers in on the 2000 Outback and want some longer bolts on the strut tops. Do I just whale on them with a hammer until they come out or do I need to drill them out somehow?

 

Seems simple, but I searched through here and off road section and haven't seen an answer.

They're just pressed in like lug studs, but the top hats have to be removed before you can get the studs out. Not enough room between the top hat and spring perch.
