Ej swap help

Featured Replies

So I have been working on my ej swap for a few weeks in my 80 wagon. im trying to see whats the best way to make the new shifter linkages fit. Also do I need to make anything to weld the drive lines center bearing in? Or do I just weld it the body seemes kinda like the body could be pretty thin. Any picks of the linkages or the drive line will be helpful. Thanks

I moved your thread over here to the retrofitting forum to get better exposure.

The driveshaft: Have your original 1 piece lengthened.

The shifters: If you are doing the 5speed dual range conversion contact Bratsrus1 (Jerry), he makes a kit that has the crossmember and shifters all modified to work in your car and look completely factory when you are done.

If you are doing the Legacy/Impreza EJ trans you will have to use the factory shifters and lengthen them to reach the tunnel in places if I remember correctly, as well as drill and cut the crossmember brackets from the EJ car to bolt in. Much harder to do.
