Could never get my hands on the '70s style tube bull bar. I found this newer-style bar on an 84 wagon and welded it up to the ol' brat:

 

That's pretty beefy.

 

I don't think that's a Subaru made bar....aftermarket or converted from some other application.

 

Does it block the highbeam lights?

It's in front of them a little, but I don't think it's a deal killer. Could be aftermarket, but the way it was hooked up to that 84 wagon it looked purpose-built.

Bars and uprights are aluminum. Only the attachment pieces at the bottom are steel. That's what I welded.
