Well, happy new year to everyone. i have a 1986 Subaru BRAT GL that admittedly is in rough condition. it runs (well, ran) good, 4wd works great, so mostly its cosmetics i need to work on. but as of a few days ago (i think it was thursday) it wont start. my brother was using it to drive to work, and he said it made a metallic click from in the engine compartment, and now theres no power to the vehicle...except for the fasten seatbelt light in the dash?? anyone got ideas as to what it could be?

I would check the fusible links first, grey/black box behind the battery. They are somewhat loud when they blow.

interesting. i wouldnt have expected to be able to hear something like that. ill have to check that. though whats weird, is that it did the same thing to me a few weeks ago at a gas station (same click sound, though no seatbelt light) and i figured, no power, better check the battery connections. so i fiddled with the terminal connections, made sure they were tight, and it got power back.
