OUTBACK Bug shield Paint Problem!

Featured Replies

Heads up!!

I took my factory bug shield off my 2013 outback the other day to wax and found that there was a reaction in the paint from the foam padding under bug shield.

THE PAINT MOVED!!!!!

Iit looks like the paint slid down 1/2 inch all the way across hood where the foam pad touches.

I took it to dealer and they said yes its in the paint and they are researching to see if anyone else but No one removes the shield.

SO if you have a Bug Shield PLEASE remove and look as Subaru needs to know so they can change the king of foam they put on them.

It is very noticeable in less than 8 months so imagine it in 5 years.

Welcome to the USMB.

The other thing I would suspect is that the paint may have not been fully cured when the shield was put on.  When was the car manufactured (should be listed on the plate in the door jam) and when did you get and have the bug shield installed?
