I have a 2004 Subaru Forrester that I have taken very good care of. It has 188k miles on it.

 

I've recently noticed that my gas pedal feels a bit rough under my foot. It usually feels smoother.

Is this a precursor to something ie. the TRANSMISSION, or maybe just a wheel imbalance?

FYI - there doesn't seem to be any slipping or hesitation when I increase acceleration.

Could you describe the feeling? is it a vibration on the pedal, or is it felt on the dashboard as well? It maybe a broken engine and/or transmission mount
