October 24, 201312 yr Got my 1989 subaru GL Ea82 spfi running after sitting for 3 months. The passenger side cam gear BROKE into pieces on the highway and had to tow it to my parents where it sat in the garage while i replaced the wheel bearings and timing belts etc. Now its running I think the timing might be advanced alittle to far maybe 25 deg but runs good until you give it more than half throttle then it stutters. I have checked the timing marks MANY times and a friend set the distributor to 30 deg with a timing light. I bumped it back a hair but it still is not running right.
October 25, 201312 yr Distributor shouldbe set at 20 deg,. maybe youa re running out of timing advance being 10 deg higher than normal.
