How do you adjust, repair 2005 Legacy Gas Filler Door ?

Featured Replies

Hi ALL!
So I have this car 2 weeks now....ironed out some problems. Got new one today ! It's a 2005 Legacy Wagon. The gas filler door doesn't want to open, I can tell by the release inside this problem has been going on for a while ! The cable has been stretched, all the plastic around is loose. I slipped my finger under the cable just behind the release and you can tell that , that's been done before by the way it conforms to your finger.

I finally got the door open by using a screw driver, I didn't screw up the door. What I can guess, is that the sprung loaded tab doesn't work anymore, so you have to pull on the release with your figure and have someone open the door, well I don't have a someone, so I have to fix it! Ya, what an idea ! I have two pix, I don't know if the tab thing is just sprung or that maybe it's missing ? Its the silver thing in the pix. Never really paid attention to an operating door before, because the ones I've had always worked ! It's wet in there because I sprayed it with good old WD40.

Any ideas??
