Swapping out 2.5 for 2.2....need power for hauling camp gear, dogs, kayaks, bikes and ? Anything I can do to 2.2 before putting it in. I don't want to use really tiny tires. (need ground clearance were I go). Thank you in advance.

Is the 2.5 shortblock still in good condition? It's possible to use the 2.2 heads with the 2.5 block, for a bit more power than the standard EJ22. It'll still be a bit down compared to an EJ25D though, as the heads don't flow as well, and this 'frankenmotor' also requires custom head gaskets from Cometic.

The 2.2 I got has dual port exhaust, is this a special motor...told is a '95 Imp. Can I get more power by rasing comp, or a low boost turbo? My 2.5 supposedly was blown/overheated...parked for two years. Oil [was] in overflow tank, maybe 1/2 teaspoon, I cleaned it out. It started right up, ran it for 30 minutes. No drips, leaks, revs great, no knocking. Next day drove to fuel station, filled it with med grade, aired up the tires, drove home. I did notice a little steam from P/S motor. I'm pulling and selling it...or redue the heads, then sell for ?
