February 22, 201412 yr Hi all, I have a question. I have purchased a 92 Loyale with a 5 speed and push button 4wd and the previous owners have about done it in. They drove it in 4wd all the time because it wouldn't come out by the button. I had it out of 4wd about 10 minutes after getting it home. Anyway, long story short they have damaged 1st and 2nd gear. I have found a 5 speed push button 4wd in a local junkyard in a 87 Gl turbo wagon. Will this work in my 92 Loyale? I keep getting different answers around here and I need to know before I buy something that won't work. It has the same vacuum operated 4wd pod on it. I know it will bolt to the engine in my Loyale. Will my axles work with it and will my driveshaft to the rear end work with it. Any help with answers are greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
February 22, 201412 yr Your Loyale will have 23 spline inner axle cups and the turbo model will have 25 splines. Other than that they should be pretty much the same, maybe some slight electrical differences on switches
February 22, 201412 yr The axle splines are different and the final drive ratio is different/incompatible (unless you change your rear diff to one from a turbo model).
February 22, 201412 yr Good call northwet, I spaced on the ratio issue. 3.7 on the turbo, 3.9 non-turbo
