Does anyone know why the front bumper was changed to stick out so far on the loyales? I think it looks like the car has a fat lip, compared to my 86 GL. The bumper also blocks visibility of the signal lights. I hope i can swap the bumper from my GL to the loyale, but I was just wondering why the change had been made.

I believe it's for safety ratings in the US, something about 5mph collisions.

 

If you swap out the bumpers, remember to grab the turn signals too.

The signal lights are part of the bumper. I think that the 5mph safety increase would have been outdone by the signal visibility decrease. Do you know if the frame rail size was the same between the 2 models?

You can swap the bumpers, if that's what you mean. They'll bolt right in.

The bumpers are basically the same size. The newer model bumper looks like it sticks out more mainly because the turn signals are recessed so far back. FYI, they released the new bumper style for the 87 model year.
