April 17, 201411 yr I'm buying a 91 loyal to make into a Wheeler. It currently has a 5spd pushbutton 4wd. I have a 4spd duel range out of a 84 gl I'd like to put in the loyal. How would I go about it? And yes I've tried searching. I know a 5spd duel range would be better but it's what I have. Thanks all.
April 17, 201411 yr driveshaft length is different....4spd D/R box is longer than the 5spd box......you may have to play with the gearbox mounts....i ran a 5spd FT4WD D/R on ea81 4spd D/R mounts but i seem to remember it was it a fight to get things to fit/line up
April 17, 201411 yr How would I go about it? Bolt it in. The mounts shold land close enoguh to just put a few new holes in the crossmember. Fabricate a D/R shifter...... Use the 4spd one piece driveline. Then when you break the 4spd, which you will........Get a 5spd D/R and put all your 5spd stuff back in.
April 17, 201411 yr Author well that 4spd has lasted 350,xxxx miles so far. heres hopin it hangs on. Maybe ill go look around. What should i exspect for cost?
