Check engine testing

Featured Replies

So, I just got my 1993 subaru legacy L and it idols kind of funny. It bounces a bit, so I figured a sensor must be bad so I take it to Oreilly's to use their tester to see which sensor it is. But it turns out they don't carry one for my year of suby. So my question is; Where can I get it tested? Or is there some kind of thing I can get myself that isn't an exorbitant amount of money?

Don't need a scanner. It won't tell you anything if the Check Engine Light isn't on.

Start with a tune-up. New spark plugs and wires, air and fuel filters, new PCV valve. Look for any split vacuum hoses and make sure all of the breather and PCV hoses that attach to the intake tube are attached correctly and not split or cracked.
