Fuel injection wiring

Featured Replies

Ok I will try to keep this simple.

I have set my timing, new plugs got spark on test, checked all cylenders #3 when spark wired pull does nothing to Idle others idle down. pulled injectore from 3 and one beside swaped injectors retest same results #3 still does not idle down others Idle down still. Is this now a wire problem to the main brain or fuse, Something like that? I am at a lost, if so what needs to be done and how. Thank you all.

My name is Robert I am new here, it is very nice to meet you all. I do have some knowlege of my Forester fuel pump, timing belt and timing set, radiater, altenator, air flow. if you need help

Put a stethoscope on the injector and listen to see if it is clicking. A long handle screw driver works well if you don't have a stethoscope. Just put your ear against the handle.

An injector wiring problem will set a code and turn on the CEL. Unless you have a code for the injector in the computer the problem is either spark or compression.

injector is working I swaped with another cylender and getting the same results with the same cylender #3 before #3 after. I can check for sound but if it is not working I feel it would have to be electrical?

I just got back inside could not tell if I was hearing clicking. I unpluged to wire to the end of fuel injector still runs same idle no down idle at all checked other cylenders again other three down idle

Right. If it doesn't click you can check for 12V at the injector plug with a digital multimeter.

You need a noid light or LED test light to check for pulse.

I do not have a light but I do have a meter, If I use this I should get a 12v reading ?

ok I checked the plug to that cylender not running no volt while running 13.3 volts

so like I thought injector is working but still not getting any idle down from that cylender when I pull plug wire. I did pull the plug and tested for spark from end of plug I am getting spark I did also check plug wire alone getting full reading wire is all good it self as well. Could this b the brain box?

ok let me ask this. if everything thing is show as a go. getting volts, hearing clicking, swaped injectors with another cylender get same results. This one cylender does not idle down like the other three even with me swaping the injector to call that a injector test. the cylender that I swaped it with did idle down like it was supposed to and #3 still did not. so all seems as a GO....... if this is the case why does this #3 cylender not idle down like it is supposed to like the other three??

#3 has low or no compression.

What year is your forester?

this is a 98 rebuilt motor 3 years ago duel cam

I come to feel that is must have something to do with the valves or rocker more mechanical than electrical now. exhaust smells bad and grey in color . low in power till I get to about 1800 rpms then I can fly

Anyway, now that the board's back...

Yes, probably a burned valve on #3. The DOHC heads have shims for valve adjustment and they hardly ever get adjusted. I would bet you have 0 clearance on one or both of the exhaust valves on cylinder 3.
