2014 impreza rough start

Featured Replies

Is there anyone out there that is having an issue with start up of their 2014 impreza?

By issue with startup, do you mean cranking for several seconds before the engine starts?

This is a fairly common issue in the newer model Imprezas. Seems like its mostly 2012 and up.

I'm not sure of a known fix but there is some info out there if you google Impreza hard starting.

Be sure to let your dealer know you're having this problem. This is an issue they need to know about. They may even have a TSB about the problem.

When I start the car it will run rough for about 1 minute then idle high and go down to a normal idle.

Could be a leaking fuel injector or it's o-ring.  Don't want to run it like this for long, it can dilute the oil and damage the bearings.

Take it back to the dealer...

Hate to say this, but it's normal for the newer PZEV vehicles. There are threads about this on every major Subaru board ( NASIOC, Subaruforester.org, Outback, Subaruxvforum ).

Without a qualified answer, it seems it's for emissions and warming up the cat faster.

Same reason, for those who had the reed air punp on their 08-11 vehicles complained about the LOUD noises at startup.

And owning a 2014 Impreza, I have this experienced this also, at first thinking .... I need spark plugs so soon ? ...... NORMAL
