Where to find parts for an 80's Subaru DL?

Featured Replies

In the next few weeks i will be picking up this sweet little Subaru. I keep forgetting to take pics when i see it, but here one really bad one.3JDZAjh.jpg

The problem: The previous owner said the automatic transmission just stopped working while going down the highway at ~93,000 miles. (low, i know!) The gear selector will move freely but the car won't even try to move itself in any gear. It acts as if in neutral, even in park. It looks like the trans leaks also. Could this just be low fluid? Thats the first thing i will check when i do get time to tinker.

If one of you could point me in the right direction to find parts that would be awesome. Thanks.

Been wondering the same thing for my 88 GL. Seems like all the parts are for newer subaru's. I know older toyota parts are even somewhat easy to find. Hopefully someone will point you in the right direction and I can piggy back... :)

Good news is a trans that is run low on fluid will  act as you described and not try to move. Bad news is that it's not good for them to run low. Fill'er up and see what happens, you might drive away and just need to fix a transmission fluid leak!
