My 85 BRAT's rear bumper has had a very rough life. Would like to replace it, but seems used ones I've found are in pretty bad shape too. When did Subaru start putting on chrome rear bumpers and could one be fitted to my 85? On 84GL wagon I found the bumper was chrome and in good shape. It has shock absorbing cylinders that are not on brat and the licence plate mounts on the hatch. Looking for any ideas to restoring somewhat near original.

My 86 Brat has a Chrome bumper.

 

Wagon, sedan and hatch bumpers are different.

 

Funny, your's the liscense plate mount is in the bumper?  Mine it's below the bumper on the body but the Lights are in the bumper.
