If there is an easy way to get a gas tank out of a 1980 Brat, I'd love to hear from you.

 

I noticed seam sealer and screws inside the pickup bed, should this sheet metal be removed?  Do I have to drop the rear axle?

You must remove the rear mount for the differential and allow it to drop down.

 

Otherwise, it's just 5 or 6 bolts around the rim of the tank.  Access from underneath.

 

Nothing in the bed needs disturbed.
