February 13, 201511 yr took fuel pump off to check to see if it worked.broke all three mounting screws, damn, fuel pump works if you apply power directly, traced it back to fuse box, with the key on no power to the fuel pump fuse. does it get its power from the ing switch or does it go through the relay first or is there a oil pressure switch first. my car is an 88 wagon dl.
February 13, 201511 yr The ecm uses a signal from the CAS (distributor) to trigger the pumps relay. It wont pump unless the engine is spinning. These cars do not have a priming cycle. Without looking at a wiring diagram I cannot tell you for sure if the fuse gets its power from the ign relay or whatever. I do belive It fed from one of the fuseable links direct off the battery. Its not hard to check these.
February 13, 201511 yr There should be 12v + at fuse 11 with key on. That fuse supplies the power to the relay. ECU grounds relay during cranking, which then powers the fuel pump. If that fuse has power, then the problem is you aren't getting Distributor pulse. Test fuel pump by connecting green "test" connectors and turning key on. Fuel pump should cycle.
February 15, 201511 yr i will try that next where are those test connectors exactly Enigine bay at the firewall driver side. Near fuel filter and Wiper motor. Green for Test White for Read Both for Clear
February 21, 201511 yr Author got the fuel pump working now it was a bad relay,i put a used one in there for now,all i need now is spark and the wiring for the ac heater fan someone cut up the wiring and tried to bypass the resistores.
