Turbo cover--is it necessary?

Featured Replies

I have a 1992 Turbo Wagon and the plastic cover that goes over the turbo has fallen off (and is broken). Do I need to replace it? What is its purpose? Does anyone know where I can get one if it is needed? I'm in Colorado Springs. Thanks!

Do you mean the chimney or do you mean the coil cover? If it's the coil cover you don't need that it's only for dress up. but the chimney there's no good reason to get rid of it. It allows cool air to flow onto the turbo while moving and allows hot air to escape directly through the scoop while stationary. Come over to bbs.legacycentral.org

It's the plastic thing that covers the turbo area--not the chimney. A friend just glued the thing back together and put back one of the plastic plug things so we'll see if it stays put.
