93 legacy 2.2l 5 speed with mechanical clutch. 170k miles

 

Just installed a new clutch. It's an exedy. i almost have everything back together. I just got the cable adjusted to the specs in manual. Then I go to check the pedal. I pushed the pedal in and it just stays in the floor. I can pull it out by hand. Any idea what the issue is?

Possibly the cable sheath is not seated in the bracket on top of the trans.

 

If that's ok, check the u-clip that the cable end fits into on the top of the pedal.
