My First Subaru

Featured Replies

I am new to Subaru and this forum. I just bought a 1988 subaru xt 4wd for $200. Funny thing is it has 34000 original miles and is completely original all the way down to the light bulbs. It has had a tuneup done to it and oil changes. Nothing else.

XT looks nice and straight. A good scrub and some wax should lift a lot of shine back out of the paint. Always thought these were neat cars.

Yeah, I really like it. Only problem is p.o. painted the hood and front bumper with bed liner material. Looks horible and extremely hard to remove. I fixed the hood part of it by buying a hood off a turbo xt at pull and save. The hood was only $27 and I like it better cause the turbo xt had the hood scoop. Just gotta paint it. I am planning on doing a little body work(couple door dings and a little rust on the rear quarter panels) and completely repainting the whole car.

I know what that's like. The last owner of my 83 Brat did the same thing to the rear end. :(
