McIntosh Sat Nav

Featured Replies

Hey Guys just signed up today after buying a 2007 spec B liberty. It needs an update on the sat nav really bad and not even the dealer can help me because their supplier doesn't do updates on that model? I can't believe that the sat nav I have is useless and that I have no option to upgrade that is ridiculous! How do other Subaru owners deal with this problem? Any help would be awesome thanks guys.

Most nav systems lose update capability after about 5 years. Its a computer, its practically obsolete by the time the car makes it from the plant to the dealer lot.

Hunt around in the menus on the unit and see if you can determine which company made the map software for it, and any map version info. Then find out who made the actual head unit. (Youll probably have to remove it and look for a sticker on it somewhere. Get in touch with the manufacturer of the unit and ask if they still offer updates for it.

More than likely and update pack will be several hundred bucks. It's usually cheaper to just buy a new head unit.

Thanks, I wasnt sure if I could replace the unit itself because of it's specific dimensions but i'll have a look around now thanks. The thing is that with a stand alone system like a Tom Tom your able to update maps where as on this type of unit it's rendered useless. Just stupid really

Many of those in the US took CDS or DVDs to read from. If that's the case on yours you just need a new set of discs.

Apparently they do your right so I am DL 2 versions of maps and will rip them onto disc when they're done but I am sceptical as to if they will work only because if the supplier of these upgrades (whereis.com) verbally told me over the phone they don't have them for my model then one would imagine they would know but we'll see, i'll post the outcome of that also my local in car entertainment installer is researching just replacing the system with something else so will post the outcome of that one too. Thanks guys

it very likely could be they just don't make updates for your model anymore. That doesn't mean there aren't recent updates available either by downloading, as you are doing, or eBay for discs.

The question would be when did they discontinue updates.

I even went as far back as 2009 updates and they didn't even have them for my model.

Well done. So if I select Liberty instead of Macintosh there is an update available. Thanks for that!!
