95 subaru legacy

Featured Replies

My boy friend has a 95 legacy and has been trying to restore it, he has been running into all kinds of issues as the car was never taken care of, he has had leaks that he has fixed. The radiator was just replaced and the head gaskets have been replaced, he also fixed a gas leak and few others things I am not so sure about. With all the work he has done the car still is not running at its best, and tends to run hot and when starting up the car it starts loud and then dies down and then when drives its sound loud to me and he knows there is a still something wrong. He was told it could be his lifters, so replaced them and still nothing has changed, he now thinks it may be his oil pump and has purchased a new one to replace it in hope this will be the last thing. Just would like some more input as to what someone who really knows about these cars thinks what they could be..

Can you describe how it "sounds loud?"  Clicking/ticking, thumping or banging, roaring?  Does it sound like it's "inside the engine" or is it an exhaust sound?

Give us as much info as you can--maybe even an audio recording--so we can try to narrow it down.
