2014 Forester USB and AUX jack location

I get why you would want an MP3 player or phone out of the way, but it is hard for me to get a USB stick into the slot within the console. Perhaps its my advanced age and decrepid physical condition, but I'm fairly uncomfortable fooling around in that console from the driver's seat. And, yes, I know many manufacturers store those inputs in that same area, but not as far rearward.

I can see the danger of having a USB drive sticking out of the radio area. Still, there has to be better positioning than this. Anyone use an extension successfully? Something just a few inches long would solve the problem for me.

You might consider getting a short USB extension wire that you can plug into the unit, then place the other end somewhere easier to get to, such as by the cup holder or in the center console storage area.

Right. That's exactly what I was thinking. Amazon sells short extensions of 6 inches, 1 foot, and so on. Since I'm not the first person to buy one of these cars, I assumed others may have also found the placement troublesome and tried an extension. I would imagine such a cable would resolve the issue well enough.

Hey, is this USB 1.0, 2.0, or maybe even 3.0?

Any chance the radio can randomize the playback (the radio on the Limited version of the vehicle)?
