Hey guys, Im new here but wanted to share with you how I flushed out my OEM oil cooler. I saw this as an alternative to buying a new oil cooler at $200 or more.

I used a drill powered pump made from a m55 SBC oil pump, got the appropriate lines and fittings to put it all together and pushed 6 gallons of diesel fuel through it. I figured that would get it cleaned out pretty good.

The motor it came off of was running and didn't suffer from rod knock so ymmv if you decide to do something similar.

Heres a video of me using my setup and a picture.

Wasn't clogged, just wanted to clean it good before I put it back on since I'm rebuilding the block.

Most people that develop rod knock and rebuild just throw out their oil cooler in fear of it holding contaminants from the bearings letting go since their was no way to clean it thoroughly. This might be an alternative to throwing it out, flushing it out rather than purchasing a new one that costs a couple hundred dollars.
