August 12, 201510 yr Putting a newer motor in for a friend. We are 98% done on the install and plugging everything in and I've noticed the wiring harness is different. Original motor has the wire running to a sensor on the intake (MAF I presume) and the new motor has a sensor on the top center of the intake manifold that is absent on the other motor. Check engine light will not be an issue on this car, but am I assuming correctly that it wont run well if it's expecting MAF but has a MAP sensor? Can I get away with swapping the wiring harness and throttle body or do I need to swap intake manifolds to get this thing ready to run?
August 12, 201510 yr Just swap the intake manifolds. Much easier than trying to swap wiring, and then you know you have everything the car is expecting.
