vwbuge Posted May 28, 2004 Share Posted May 28, 2004 The idle bug has got me. My dad's '86 has about 150,000 on the clock and this popped up recently. I just replaced the plugs and wires as well as cap and rotor. Nothing. Still idles so low it dies. On cold start you pump the pedal 3-4 times and hit the key and she fires right up. After about a minute of warmup you hit the pedal to turn the choke off and it dies. I tried adjusting the cable but nothing. Looked for vac leaks. Nothing. Could it be the fuel filters?
