Michigan Subaru meet and greet ??

Featured Replies

There seems to be more and more people from Michigan creeping up on the board lately, and that can only mean one thing, a Michigan style mud boggin outing, that may be a while off but deffinatly a meet and greet. I'm in Big Rapids, where all you guys/gals at.

ps. krissy, i'm not trying to replace you;)

hey, dont forget the Subaru Alliance here in NE corner if Indiana!

we could meet too with planning in mind!

Gezzz, what? Like you would have me worried?! Come on now!! :P

Michigan-Indiana even Ohio and Illinois, i could see that.

sounds fun. we'll have to plan somthing.

I'm in Lansing Michigan, and I think "Tomrhere" is in Jackson (45min away). I would love to do anything Subi within about 200 miles of Lansing.

If its Michigan only then lansing is nice and central, but if Indiana is involved we need to go south

Actually, I'm in Hillsdale. Sounds good to me. Hopefully I'll have mine up and running when this happens, but I'll still show if not..........Tom

I may be returning to Michigan for the summer.....

depends on what occurs when I graduate from "undergraduate status" here in Tejas.

Too bad, i'm in Seattle for the summer

:D yes... yes you are...:P

If this happens sometime after may I might be able to make it. It's about 5 1/2 hours from my parents house to get into Michigan, and I've got some old friends outside of Detroit that I haven't seen in a while.

Who is in for somthing around Lansing, Detroit, Kalamazoo area, southern Michigan. some time before may is good for me, any imput from you guys?

Weekends are good (I'm off Fri-Sun) except for the weekend of April 27th. That's the Race For The Cure 5k: sneakers day instead of car day!

As of this writing, weekends are good for me, off for those days. Not trying to get out of driving anywhere, but Hillsdale County is more or less, centralized East to West in the state, and would be closer for those who live outstate. Got the fairgrounds right here in town proper, few parks around too. I can check into availability, if/when we set date. But only ifin y'all think it's good. Supposedly, there's a few spots for off-roading, and mudding around. Don't know for sure, haven't been to any myself. I can look into that too. Got a few other ideas to throw out, but depends on if we do it around here. Comments, other ideas?......Tom

I'd love to come up and meet the guys, and I might just be able to make it. I'm in NE Ohio, Youngstown region. I hada chance to meet the Subaru Alliance Guys last year, It'd be cool to get a big group together like this. My only concern is the first week of May is finals week :( Kind of a big no-no to take a road trip when you should be taking a test in Calc 2 and Chemistry... I'll see what I can work out thou, who needs to study anyways, right? :D

I have the finals week blues in May also, but after that i'm off to subaru heaven, Seattle, i'm not jumping off a bridge.

Dates that are good for me

weekends of

March 28-30

April 17-20, long weekend:D , however this is easter weekend

others may work on one day or another but if its an overnight mudding camp trip those are the only ones good.

Whoops, March 28-30 won't work for me because I'll be in Subaru Heaven! Going home to Bellingham for a week. (yeeeeeeeeHAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!!) :D:D:D:D

But, since I'll be flying into Seattle I won't have my Soob with me. Sigh. I do believe my rental car reservation said something about a Chevy Cavilier or Dodge Neon... and I'm sure it'll be automatic, too. :x

Lesbaru, so you are living on the west coast and at school in the midwest too, thats too funny. so you feel my pain when people tell you that it was a long drive of all of 3 hours to get home, then you have to break out 3 days and win hands down.

Oh, yeah. And I'm so miserably homesick I could just puke. I graduated last year. Now I'm getting my clinical experience and waiting for some things to settle out (divorce, etc.) so I can move back in 3 years, 8 months, and 6 days. My kid will be going into high school then. Dang, that makes me feel old! He was a little baby when we moved here!

Do you ever see low clouds out of the corner of your eye and think "Oh, the mountains are out,"? I miss the mountains, the ocean, and the rain. (and the Subarus!) I get just giddy on cloudy overcast days, bouncing around like Tigger while the midwesterners mope about the rain.

  • 2 weeks later...

How about Hillsdale, Saturday May 31st? Tom?

Works for me. Anybody else? Hillsdale isn't that hard to find, no matter where you're coming from. I can give you directions, or you can do a web map. Come on guys/gals, let's do this! I'll be happy to meet with anyone at a later date, if they can't meet on a day that the rest of us can. Just to get together and talk Sube's. Gotta local watering hole, (bar-tavern-whatever), and a 28" dia. pool in the back yard for those hotter days. (yea! That's going to happen soon!!)...Tom

roadtrippin' 3 hours (ROFLOL) ohhh thats a short jaunt... a road trip for me starts at a min. of 8 hours drive one way.

The drive back to Michigan is at least 18 hours to Battle creek (well exit 100 on I-94 to be specific as I have family on Beadle Lake (hehehehe). But this summer I might be able to make the 31st of May.... with gragitating this May.... either way I'll be up in the Crack of the thumb area for a small part this summer i dare believe too!

i was just to jackson mi a few weeks ago. now i am sitting as silvershadow's house in ohio.

what about the badlands near lafayette, IN. but it may be a bit far for ohio people, but not too far for illinois and michigan

maybe if everyone agreed badlands, and coordinated, suppose we could get a package deal for admission for a weekend

Miles. What the, and why' the "H", were you in Jackson for? I'm up for a meet anywhere we can get the most of us together. Thought about doing it around here, but there's no place we can go off-road. All we can do is meet and talk about our Subes. My only reason for suggesting Hillsdale, was because it's more central to those that be out-state. So far, I think the concensis(?), is on the 31st of May. Any weekend is good for me, I'm usually off work by noon on Fridays. Truely hoping that I have my '82 roadworthy by then, still lacking a couple of parts. Anybody that's chimed in sofar, have a problem with Indiana? Maybe NW Ohio, if there's someone from that area. Maybe we should rename this thread as the ( Southern ) Lower ( Western ) Great Lakes Meet. I was born, and lived my 1st 10 years of life in Geneva, Ohio. That's a 6 hour drive from here. Don't think to many would want to do that drive, just to call it a Lower Great Lakes meet-N-greet. Then you got the one's in New York, and Pennsylvainia. Not to mention the ones in Winsconsin. All I can really say is, Let's do this people!.........Tom

Wow, didnt realize there were so many of ya'll near the MI/IN/OH area, and even more surprising is that I know where Hillsdale is!!! Actually spent some time in Hillsdale MI about 11 years agao...been a long time.

Would love to do something like this, but at the moment my poor little 2 whl dr Soob is on the outs. Had a timing belt let go, and being in Central Wisconsin and no garage, its a bit rough out! :x Maybe by the time you guys settle on a date and location i will be up and running again! :P recently got laid off work, a permanent thing, so plenty of time on my hands...gonna milk this one for a while! :rollin:

As for picking a location...guess one would need to figure out who all is interested in showing, and where they would be coming from, then attempt to pick a centralized location from that info...just a thought. As for me, well, call me being from Stevens Point area...just about dead center of WI. You probaly wont get too many from up this way so where ever this ends up I will attempt to come on down! Just remember it would be a long drive for me!! (five hrs just to Chicago) <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/images/emoticons/ohwell.gif ALT=":\"> no guarantees, but i would definitly try!
