replace cv axle

Featured Replies

I attached youtube link to video of issue.  I was changing the front driver CV axle of 2004 Subaru Impreza Outback Sport.  I was wondering if I pulled the male connector out of the transfer case (or maybe just transmission I dont really know) out.  Because there is a lot of movement and I could not seem to push it back in to where it locked.  I also didnt put much force on it.

I am hoping this is not the case and that this is normal although I know that probably isnt the case.  Either way if anyone knows or sees anything in the video or pictures that would be helpful.  The car isn't worth much at all and I would rather just buy a different car than pay someone to work on the transmission.  I did have to put the axle and wheel back on to roll the car in neutral a couple of feet and it seemed to work, but with the AWD the tire will spin if pushing the car.  Any help or input would be greatly appreciated.  I also wanted to know that since it pulled out and I probably rotated the axle before I noticed this problem is there any chance to get it realigned myself if I need to or is just a small amount enough to completely through it out of whack.
