Legacy/Impreza catalytic converter compatibility?

1997 Legacy L 2.2 225k miles.

 

Needed new catalytic converter(s) per the mechanic. Found this one which I thought might work since it's for the same year Impreza 2.2 and was cheaper and easier to install. Installed perfectly but now the car sounds loud and mean, but seems to run fine. Can anyone tell me if this part is/should be compatibly with the Legacy 2.2? Or was I too clever and cheap and now have to return it and buy the proper two pieces for my car. Thanks
