Is the 2.5 inferior to the 2.2 or is it just me?

Thinking about a baja purchase but know forrestors of the same tear were sold as chevrolet forresters in india. Ahhhhh hate american made and i will add i work at denso so i know how automobile manufacturing actually works e.g alot of cars use denso components will leave it at that.

EJ25 is newer, more power, more available.

All factors that can be equal, being equal, the Phase I EJ22 is more reliable and cheaper and easier to maintain.

If you want long term inexpensive reliability then yes the EJ22 is superior.

If you want performance and racing the EJ22 is inferior.

But it's hard to make all things equal due to age.

I worked for a Toyota Denso joint venture and we made a specific part for quite a few brands. 5 different models of the part for Ford alone. Subaru and Chrysler were easy, they used the same type for most of their vehicles.
