June 16, 200421 yr Some how this got crossthreaded, or over torqued, not sure, can the stud be popped out and replaced or do I need a whole new hub? Thanks.
June 16, 200421 yr I believe the stud is just pressed in from the back of the hub. On other cars, I've been able to use a hammer to drive the broken stud out of the hub. Install a new stud by inserting it from the back of the hub and then installing the wheel. When you tighten the nut, you'll draw the stud into place.
June 16, 200421 yr ^^^ What he said. Some people like to draw in the replacement stud with a plain lugnut turned backward, and a washer. Keeps from marring the hub. The correct way to do it is to press it in. Whatever.
June 17, 200421 yr Author Thanks that is just what I wanted to know, Kicking myself for not keeping my stripped out but otherwise perfect hub, off to the Junk yard I go.
