1990 legacy wagon awd, Auto.

I'd like to lift Miss Fire 1-1.5". found some spacers that go above the existing struts. But originals are feelin a bit squishy, so I'm tempted to just swap out the struts all together. I've heard forester or outback suspension will do the trick. I'm wondering what years will work for this, and what other bullshit I might encounter along the way. What you got?
