mbjeeper
I think I have found an '83 that I'd like to buy. It is pretty far away, and my plan is to remove the front bumper, make a towbar mount that will mount to the bumper mount locations (the two on each side, in the wheelwell, where the bumper brackets bolt to the subframe sides) The car is hundreds of miles away, so I cannot measure the distance between the bolt holes on the subframe center to center, and the distance outside to outside of the subframe. If anyone out there has a car apart and could get me those measurements, I would greatly appreciate it. My plan it to bolt two pieces of angle to the bumper mounting holes in the subframe, and then weld a front piece of angle, or possibly square tubing to the forward ends of the angle. I will mount the tow bar tabs to the front piece. Like making a crude front bar bumper, in other words. Thing is, I have to make it at home and then remove the bumper and install the 'towbar bumper' in its place when I get to the car. If anyone could get the required measurements I'd really appreciate it, or, if anyone has attached a towbar directly to the front bumper bar, I'd love to see how you did it! The car is a standard, by the way, 1983 DL Many thanks, Greg
