93 Impreza not starting

Featured Replies

Just recently my 93 Impreza stalled on me, which was a shock in itself because it never has before. Unfortunately it hasn't woken up from it's slumber as of yet. My fiance's uncle has experience with cars and through his quick diagnostics and what a tow-truck guy said he swears up and down that it's the control module causing the problem. With help from this forum I was able to get the ECU codes which point to a couple of other start-related items. Here's the symptoms along with my ECU findings:

The car cranks but doesn't fire up. It has had some trouble starting since this past winter so it wasn't unusual for me to have to pump a bit for it go get going. Unfortunately now it doesn't even make the effort to start. When I checked the ECU I got:

Starter Switch or Circuit

Fuel Injector #1

Coolant Temp Sensor (which from reading previous posts i think caused the hard starts this winter)

EGR Solenoid or Circuit

I don't know much about cars and I've been learning a lot while I've been going. Not only from here but the Chilton guide I have as well.

Anyway, any help on where to start and what to look for would be awesome. Thanks in advance.

First step is to clear the codes. Connect both the green & black connectors together. You're supposed to drive the car up to a certain speed, but you may not have to.

That or you can try connecting just the green connector and see if it'll start in d-check mode.
