Recommended Posts

i primarly worked on chevys and into subarus now. i recently put my soob together from misc parts basically its an ea81 carbed, and for the longest time i couldn't getit to run very well, i finally started fiddling with everything and the time and got it to idel about 800rmps, PASS EMISSIONS(missing half the egr crap, with major exhaust leaks), and run half decent, did evrything basically by ear and feel and finally today i took a timing light to it and it looks and if its running about 12 degrees BTDC, is that good? im used to advancing or retarding timing to tdc never past it. maybe some help is needed here....

for a carb motor 8 deg is stock. 12 is not far off, some like to bump the timing for performance. mine is past stock but i cant tell you what it is till i get a timing light

fuel injected models are 20 deg, and 85-86 turbos are 25
