Ignition switch removal, Hatchback

Featured Replies

Can the lock and tumbler be replaced or does the entire switch need to come off of the column? I hope there is some trick to it.

Hi Frank This is Jerry, if you are having trouble with the switch replace it. It's not that hard to do just takes time. I have a good switch from a 84 brat with 2 keys. To do this you remove battery cable then remove horn button then remove nut that holds steering wheel on then remove wheel then remove turn signal switch then remove 2 springs for the tilt then you have 4 bolts that takes 10mm wrench remove them and it slides off. Do the steps backwards and it's done. Let me know if you need the switch. Thanks Jerry

Thanks, I have a source for the switch locally, I just picked a brake booster with master cylinder off of a car and I'll just go back and get the switch.

The man has three pre-loyale wagons, one hatch, and two loyale style cars.
