Using a AWD axle on a FWD Legacy?

Featured Replies

Does anyone see a problem with this? I know the diameter is a bit larger on the FWD axles then the AWD. The car is a 90 FWD auto sedan. Funny thing is I have FWD axles on my AWD 5 speed legacy with no problem. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

The AWD axles has a smaller diameter, and will not stand up to the torque in the long run. It will break "prematurely".

Also, if replacing only one side, the difference in rotational mass will cause "torque steer". Gas it and it will pull to one side, let off and it will pull to the other side.
