CEL repalcement?

Featured Replies

Hi all,

How would i go about replacing my burned out CEL? (94 Legacy GT) i can figure out how to take apart the dash to get to it, but what will i find? Is it a simple light in socket, or is it something different? Also, while i'm in there, i may go ahead and change the color of the lights. Where can i find the colored sleeves that slip onto the dash lights?

Thanks in advance,

Hi Jared,

Let me start off by saying "congrats" on that subway diet. On to your question. The instrument cluster does come out. just stare at it long enough and you will figure out what it takes to get it done. I am sure some 10mm and a phillips head will get her done. As for the colored lights, check ebay or your local parts store. You may even want to try a high performance (rice burner tuner) shop as all those fast and furious types like to do stuff like that.

Hope that helps. (J/K on the diet thing please don't take any of us too serious)

Thanks for the input, my main question though is:whaty kind of lamp is back there? a regular socket and bulb, or is it a LED? is it in a circuit board? will soldering be nessescary to do the replacement? I wan't to make sure i have everything i need before taking my dash apart.

Thanks again to all replys past and future.
