Help Please! 98 impreza sport wagon

Featured Replies

New to this forum....hello to all

I own a 98 impreza outback sport....seems to be pretty hard to find a simple

Hanes Shop manual for that year. Im looking for simple instructions ( or maybe there not simple lol) for changing front parking lamp bulbs.......and

putting in a new bulb for the interior dash rear defogger switch ( how do i get in there ? ) Any help appreciated.

Thanks

Had a '98 Outback sport and was able to find the manual you seek at both the local Advanced auto parts and Barnes. I would use the tech manuals linked though.

I haven't downloaded any of tech manuals yet so can't help you there. To be honest I didn't even know they were there until directed by the folks on this site ;) I just know the limitations of the Haynes/Chiltons since I have tried to use them in the past. Great for generic repairs, but model specific they are lacking.

Parking lamp bulbs are in the owners handbook, if you have it. If not, open the bonnet, there is one screw to be undone at the top of either lamp. Both at the very front corners of the car. Once the screw is out, pry your fingers in behind the trailing edge of the lamp and it will pop out. Sounds easy, and sometimes it is, other times the lamps are reluctant to move forward at all.

Once they are out, turn the bulb fitting counter-clockwise to undo it from the lamp. The bulb itself is easy to pull out.

Haven't tried the defrost lamp yet, but I would guess that the whole assembly can be pried out.
