New plugs are in WHEEEEE

Featured Replies

Okay so I've replaced the fuel filter, recharged the K&N (I don't usually by those filters but it came with the car) And I dropped in NGK Laser Platinum plugs. I'm averaging 24mpg city/highway. Does that sound about right? Or am I just lead footing it too much. I'm used to driving Jap econo boxes that get about 30mpg. But you also have to remember this is an AWD vehicle that wieghs a crap load.

Does anyone have any gas saving tips on these cars?

I remember on my acuras I could flip around a vacuum connection, lose about 3-5hp but gained another 3mpg.

Don't floor the loud pedal all the time. And stay in gear until the engine hits 1500rpm as you slow down to stop for lights - if it's manual.

I've been driving my 95 Legacy just a couple of months and I average 24-25 mpg, with a lot of highway miles. I tuned up the engine when I bought the car, but didn't track any mileage before the tuneup, so I can't compare what it may have been getting before new plugs, filter, etc.

I find myself speeding more in the Subie--75-80 mph just doesn't feel like it's going that fast (damn that engine is quiet) so that probably hurts my mpg. I'll have to say this little 4 is one of the coolest engine designs I've been around.

hmm in my 94-Leg-Wag at speeds between 85 and 115 (90 Avg) on my way back to OR from So-Cal (on I5, at night) I was getting 24Mpg. I have a cone filter, Dbl-Plat Bosch plugs (Which did help my rough idle, and gave noticable HP) and an Ebay glasspack...

I may have goten 1 Mpg better at 70mph... but where is the fun in that.

Everyone on the board told me to stay away from the platinums and go with the NGK V-power coppers. I did. They are cheap and SWEEET!

Ya... thats what I'm hearing... But I don't know wether it was the old NGKs I had being old or what... But when I put in these Bosch double / . \ platinum, I instantly had a noticeable power increase and way smoother idle. and they were $15 for the set at Wal-Mart.

Could just be the plugs being new, but I'm happy.

I used to trun the really expensive bosh platinum +4 and they were good fro about 3K and went down hill real fast after that. I was hoping to get alot more milage out of them considering what I payed.
