after i installed new belts on my 2000 subaru legacy gt i am smelling what smells like the belts...is this a problem or is this just normal with new belts for a while?

check the tension, it should feel pretty tight... if something wasnt tightened it may be slipping and burning

Smell is too tight...squell is too loose. Sweet tips
So why is there a smell when it's too tight? I seem to be having this issue, after it started squeeling a little, I tightened it and then started noticing a smell later. However, I did not even realize that I could have tightened the belt too much. So why does is do that?

Were your hands greasy, or could you have spilled any lubricant on the belts?
