December 9, 200421 yr I was looking at getting an early 90's legacy wagon for winter/daily driver. I had some thoughts, if I could get your opinions. For a small trailer, say 500-1000lbs, would an auto be better than a manual? I do perfer manuals, but a trailer in the future would be nice for camping. Second, on the net there is a '94 turbo, auto, w/155k on it. What are the chances of it being worth $2.5k and lasting anouther 50k miles and several years? In general what should I look for? I'm pretty good with cars, but never a subie. They sound like good all purpose winter mobiles. Thanks
December 9, 200421 yr Automatics are always better for pulling a trailer but I am pretty sure that the most you can pull with a legacy is 3,500lbs. Although the engines in the early legacys were known for their reliability, the trannys were not. I have 239K on mine but I think it would have lasted longer if I didn't pull a dolly behind it with a subaru attached to it now and then. I did this in Colorado so there were many hill climbs. I love my legacy.
