December 12, 200421 yr A general question... The new 2.5 engines have the hood scoop to feed air to the turbo charger. What happens when this becomes obstructed, say with snow or ice as might occur on a parked vehicle at a ski parking lot? Are there any adverse effects from rain, carwash, etc? Thanks.
December 12, 200421 yr The hoodscoop actually feeds air over the intercooler to cool down the air that has come through the intake and then been compressed by the turbocharger which heats it up. So snow and rain aren't bad for the intercooler. What is bad is long stops like traffic jams that allow the heat of the engine to build up under the hood reducing the efficiency of the intercooler. elwood
December 12, 200421 yr yeah pretty much what he said in fact snow and rain are good for a intercooler they help it reduce intake temps even further think of it as natures own water spray system lol
